Production Scheduler

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Production Scheduler is responsible for prioritizing and creating daily production schedules and will report to the Asst VP of Manufacturing and Distribution

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Promote an effective system for scheduling manufacturing and assembly; producing products within predictable time frames and minimal waste of material and work hours.
Provide services necessary to support production and sales schedules.
Establish system to manage paperwork, files, job packets, etc.
Must follow all applicable ISO procedures and make recommendations for system improvements as identified.
Must be capable of keeping accurate records, including the completion of all required forms.
Prep orders for production and for assignment of finish date to be communicated to customers.
Prepare factory tickets or job packets for orders released to production.
Verify the correctness of all job order information.
Create and assign the jobs for production scheduling.
Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
Confer with department supervision or employees to determine status of jobs.
Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Responsible for the upkeep of the information on the schedule and participate in production meetings to update job status with department representatives daily.
Review job packets for release to production to ensure contents meet production needs to output quality product.
Work with Purchasing to ensure all materials are available for the manufacture of jobs
Serve as first point of contact for sales department requesting product availability dates and commitments.
Develop positive relationships with vendors.
Foster a teamwork atmosphere with all departments.
Support a proactive, strategic approach to increasing production output.
Develop and present ideas to promote a stronger relationship within the department, with other departments, and/or with customers.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Perform assigned data entry activities according to established procedures, accurately and on time.
Prepare and distribute all required daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Greet visitors or customers and direct to the correct party.
Complete the required payroll information weekly.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Must be capable of keeping accurate records, including the completion of all required forms.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Associate's degree; Bachelor's preferred and 1-2 years relevant experience.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, order forms, invoices, purchase orders and short correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customer, vendors and co-workers and possess good telephone skills.
Ability to effectively develop and present information in written reports, spreadsheets or graphs.
Must have good math skills to calculate run rates, units of measure and basic statistics relation to the position.
Must have solid computer skills utilizing Word and Excel.
Experience with computerized scheduling and MRP system a plus.
Must be able to work independently, prioritize and accomplish deadlines.
Must work well with others at all levels within the organization and with customers & suppliers.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
