The new Director will inherit a strong and relatively new team as well as a portfolio of promising and progressive initiatives.
The new Director will play an integral role in continuing to strengthen the OACP team and building on the office's current momentum in support of the University's mission of empowering all Ambrosians to act courageously, to seek wisdom through faith and reason, to work for justice, and to lead lives of service.
The start date for this role is negotiable, but a preferred start date would be no later than July of 2024.
The Director of the Office of Academic and Career Planning will work to continue to strengthen the OACP team.
The Director will work to strengthen the team's ability to serve students in the dual roles of academic advisors and career coaches.
The Director will oversee student employment (which runs out of this office) and appreciate the role that work-study can play in building a student's resume and professional portfolio.
The Director will have the capacity to develop and support various curricular and learning efforts in support of strengthening students' career discernment and career readiness.
The Director will be prepared to work collaboratively with other offices on campus and to work to build and solidify an advising model that can be productively shared across campus.
The Director will have the knowledge, capacity, and ability to strengthen and standardize the University's processing and tracking of student internships (particularly in the College of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences).
The successful candidate will:
Possess a graduate degree in a relevant field, and possess multiple years of experience in academic advising and/or career services.
Possess multiple years of experience managing a staff.
This includes the collaborative planning and coordination of their work; the supervision and evaluation of their work; and building a strong and positive office culture.
Possess strong leadership and administrative skills including the ability to collect and analyze data and to use that data for continuous quality improvement.
Possess strong knowledge of best and emerging practices in academic advising and career planning, with the ability to share and implement this knowledge through the office staff through training, mentoring, and oversight.
Appreciate the contribution that strong advising makes to student retention and persistence.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
Possess the ability and confidence to serve as a liaison to business and industry locally, regionally, and nationally in support of procuring internship and career opportunities for St.
Ambrose students and graduates.
Possess experiences with student internships and a willingness to work to strengthen the internship experiences of St.
Ambrose students and the University's capacity to administer these internships.
Possess a willingness to contribute to the overall welfare and vitality of St.
Ambrose University and the University's mission.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
