Ensure that the site's quality and technical development initiatives are in alignment with overall plant, regional objectives.
Manage the technical team to achieve the organizational objectives using the methods in the Novelis World Class Manufacturing standards, ensuring that product, performance, and quality improvement initiatives are performed in a manner that ensures validation and sustainability of the outcome.
Ensure the efficiency of business operations and create and implement changes or improvements when vital, supporting the site teams to generate documentation of existing processes and improvements and forecast expected results of process changes.
Engage with the commercial and research organizations in product development and improvement processes, implementing new and innovative methods, processes, and products.
Provide or coordinate training, support, and ongoing mentoring regarding Quality, Product, Process and technical topics and methods.
Audit services for compliance demonstration to TS16949 / ISO 9001 / Novelis Quality and Business Operating System on an annual basis.
Mentor and guide team on issues associated to Quality, Product Development & Management, Process Control and Project Management methods.
Within the Novelis North America region actively participate in:
Development of significant communication methods regards Quality, Product, Process, and other Technical Subjects.
Driving of project selection methods to target high value projects.
Develop and apply Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to identify problems, and opportunities, leading to problem solving and improvement activities.
Participate in standard setting to ensure functionality of the standards at the site level, ensuring best practice sharing to enhance value, minimize cost and avoid reinvention of solutions.
Support the qualification and active monitoring of Tollers and Vendors as needed.
Ensure start-to-end quality product is provided to the customer.
Develop appropriate Process control & quality awareness and expertise at all levels within the organization.
Management of the Mechanical, Metallurgical and Chemical Laboratories.
Promote employee satisfaction and enablement in technical with regard to direct / indirect reports.
Qualifications A minimum of a High School Diploma.
High degree of human relations skills and high levels of personal credibility are crucial.
Superior customer service skills.
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
Creativity and project management skills.
Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with customers through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship.
Ability to organize and prioritize feature work; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
Must be flexible and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
Must be willing and able to travel (customers, training, vendors, other Novelis Facilities) as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline such as Materials, Metallurgical or Engineering discipline.
